I just listened to an interview with Walter Mosley who said the secret to becoming a great writer is to write something everyday. One of my mentors, Tyler Cowen, not only writes everyday, his stuff is published nearly everyday. I don’t keep up with how often I write, but I’m sure I put out something new at least 3 or 4 times a week.
If you ever considered getting into the writing habit, maybe this is the motivation you need.
From December 15 to January 15, Widener professor Jayne Thompson and the Chester Writer House is conducting a group writing challenge and creating a community of writers to push each other along during these long cold days of mid-winter.
I think I’ll join to work on some non-fiction stuff I’m been wanting to try. All this Chester Matters Blog stuff gets depressing after a while.
I think that it would be so enjoyable to participate in this! You deserve some other topics unrelated to Chester to write about , Mr. Roots! Treat yourself!
Hi, Stefan.
I was introduced to your blog by a woman who lives in Swarthmore who reported to me during the census. More on that later, but I’m writing to ask a seemingly silly question that’s been on my mind all day: Does Santa do a ride through the neighborhood in Chester? I lived in Media/Swat/Wallingford since 2005. I remember the first time I heard the whole commotion, and then it was explained to me. Over in South Jersey ( Willingboro), I didn’t remember seeing this/we had parades. Anyway, it is a cute thing that my now grown kids grew up with once we relocated here.
I now live in Brookhaven, but today the Santa firetrucks were blaring all day, and suddenly the question arose in mind and I can’t stop thinking about it. It may seem dumb, but small things like this create happy and secure memories for kids. This year especially, I think it’s even more significant. If this doesn’t happen, what do you think it would take for Chester kids to receive the same simple experience that all of the little kids in neighboring communities get to have?
Thanks for your time.
Janell

Santa has been seen at the Boys and Girls Club of Chester Christmas Parties. Not sure if they’re having one this year.
Thanks for keeping us informed
