I couldn’t attend the opening day activities for Chester’s Jackie Robinson Little League baseball, but I drove by early in the morning and saw a couple of guys preparing the field. I decided to stop by Crozer Park to take it all in.
Today’s Delaware County Daily Times features the artwork of Ed Graham. The equipment storage bin was defaced with graffiti and Graham covered it with a splendid tribute to Jackie Robinson and baseball in general with a mural. It was truly impressive and added to the excitement of the upcoming season.

The fields looked amazing, especially considering their condition just a couple of weeks ago. I give a special thanks to Laborers Union 413 who partnered with John and Dan, Chester’s expert baseball field landscapers, who always come through in a pinch.

The Jackie Robinson players will be playing against the Mickey Vernon Little League in Marcus Hook this season in exciting competitive contests. Once families see the teams playing in Crozer Park, the hope is that more parents will engage with the league because there are several slots remaining for players to join the league.
The Boys of Summer are at it again in Crozer Park. Let’s continue to support youth sports in Chester.
