Back in June, the Christopher Columbus statue in Chester was tarped for reasons never made public. Most people around here didn’t know anything about the statue and could care less if it’s seen or not.

Honestly, I forgot about it again until my calendar reminded me today is Columbus Day and Indigenous People Day all at once. I figured I’d do a drive-by and see how Big Chris is doing on his day.

Clearly, he’s maneuvering a Shawshank-type escape from bondage. He’s showing some leg and his head is poking out the top. At this rate, he’ll shed that tarp and be back to hiding in plain site before long.
