Finally, I can remove one thing from my check list of complaints about Chester. I can’t tell you the last time I’ve seen anyone doing voter registration in the city, but that all changed Saturday afternoon as ‘The Chestorians’ organized the first of several Saturday voter registration drives.
I can also check off Rumor #3 from my August 1st post.
The organizers told me their goal was to obtain 20 new registrations and had reach 30 within the first 90-mins.
They did everything right. First, they secured great weather. Next, they picked one of the busiest corners to catch traffic going through the city. Then, they gave away real food being cooked right there on the spot. Also, they had a DJ spinning on the 1s and 2s. Finally, they had a crew to help people fill out the forms.
These guys are making it cool to have a voter registration card.
See you next week.
