Chester Housing Authority (CHA) Executive Director Steven Fischer is welcoming Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon back to the Ruth Bennett Community Farm as part of the congresswoman’s tour of the 5th District to highlight the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program and WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program.

The Bennett Farm has been distributing more than 100 free boxes of food and fresh produce to seniors and other residents bi-weekly since April 9, with support from The Common Market, Greener Partners and The Foundation For Delaware County. This has helped decrease crowded grocery store visits and eased financial burdens for residents, especially the elderly.

This will be the second time Congresswoman Scanlon has been to the site. When she visited last year for a full tour of the residences and farm, it marked the first visit by a member of Congress to the federally funded agency in recent memory.

Where: Ruth Bennett Community Farm, 1318 Carla’s Lane, Chester, PA 19013

When: Thursday, July 16, 2020 at 12:45 p.m.
