The Clippers (9-2) took advantage of their fast start and turned back the Harrisburg Cougars 61-54. Akeem Taylor Jr and Karell Watkins jump started the Clippers with 6 points each in the opening quarter. Meanwhile their defensive intensity was too much for the Cougars as they were limited to just 6 first quarter points. With five first quarter rebounds, junior point guard Fareed Burton Jr became the difference maker in game as he recorded his first career double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds; three of those points came in the first quarter.

Burton along with Zahmir Carroll led the way in the 2nd quarter with 4 points apiece. Faheem Berry came off the bench to knock down a trey and Watkins matched him with three points. Chester was able to stretch the lead 33-18 at the intermission.

The Clippers opened the 3rd quarter with a 7-2 run as their lead ballooned to twenty points, 40-20, after a bucket by Taylor at the 4:50 mark. Watkins led the way in the 3rd quarter with 6 points. A trey from Carroll helped keep the Cougars at bay with the score, Chester – 46, Harrisburg – 32 at the end of the quarter.

The fourth quarter saw the Clippers become careless with the ball thus allowing the Cougars to cut into their lead. With 1:47 on the clock Chester’s lead was shorten to just ten points, 57-47. Six points from Burton and three from Taylor enable the Clippers to secure the win on the road.

The Clippers put four players in double figures: Watkins (17), Burton (13), Carroll (13) and Taylor (11). Rahmee Gilbert and Faheem Berry completed the scoring with 4 and 3 points respectively.

The Clippers return to Del Val League action when they travel to Boothwyn to take on the Chichester Eagles on Tuesday, January 14th. The JV game will start at 3:30 p.m. with the Varsity to follow.
