This is the weekend we all look forward to in Chester.
First and foremost, I assume The Annual Mother’s Day Parade is set to take place on Sunday after church. That event brings out the entire city as we line streets to see the pageantry of the parade while folks celebrate their mothers with dinner dates, bar-b-ques, and hanging out at your favorite Chester watering hole.
What cannot go without mention is this weekend also features the Annual Spring Concerts of the Chester Children’s Chorus. This is their crown jewel event where they bring out the all the stops including a full band of professional musicians.
I don’t know if it’s a secret or not, but I’m spilling the beans and will have to accept the fall out if it was a secret. This year’s theme is the music of Aretha Franklin.
If you’ve never heard the Chester Children’s Chorus, you are missing out on one of our city’s greatest treasures. If you have heard the chorus, and have attended one of their spring concerts, you know you better get there well ahead of time if you expect to find a seat in the nearly 700-seat auditorium.
