Mike & Ike and Jolly Joes were two of my favorite candies as a kid. I remember how proud I was when I learned they’re products of Pennsylvania – made at the Just Born factory in Bethlehem. It made the sweet and chewy experience even more special with each box I annihilated.

One Easter season I was reading the packaging on the little yellow marshmallow Peeps and discovered they were made at Just Born, too. I don’t like Peeps nearly as much as a Jolly Joes, but learning they’re from the same family encouraged me to nab a 3-pack of Peeps almost every year.

Today I read Peeps is stepping out with a new diversity initiative by added new flavors.

The seven new flavors are pancakes and syrup, cotton candy, orange sherbet dipped in crème-flavored fudge, root beer float, vanilla creme, chocolate caramel swirl, and blue raspberry.

I doubt if this will lead to me liking Peeps any more, but I’m leaning on experimenting with the root beer float Peep.

I just hope I don’t see anyone lining up pancakes and syrup Peeps next to a few strips of bacon at the breakfast nook.
