Chester’s summer basketball team recently won the Wilmington, Delaware high school Summer Basketball League. The team is made of sophomores, juniors, and seniors.

Chester defeated Glasgow High School in the Championship game 61-47. League MVP Rahmaad Dejarnette had 19 pts, seniors Brian Randolph dropped 14, Tim Johnston 7 and 6 rebounds , Kaliar Blackston 8pts 8 boards,junior Rahnel 6pts 5 boards, sophomore Akeem Taylor dropped 2-3’s.

Throughout the summer league season Chester High coaching staff attended many of the games as you may recognize new assistant Kenny Tate in background (orange hat).

The team has played in 5 tournaments and several showcase games including traveling to Reading, PA playing their varsity high school team and losing by only 3 pts.

On Saturday, August 5, the team will be traveling to Baltimore MD to play a showcase game on  at Madison Square Dome, a legendary outside court with a dome covering the court. We expect to see many of Baltimore top Ballers like Carmelo Anthony, Reggie Williams, Mugsy Bogues, Aquille Carr and David Wingate. New Coppin St Univ. head coach Juan Dixon will be on hand. There will be 4 games starting at 1:30pm with high school girls and 3pm with high school boys, followed by two legends games: 4:30pm -35 and under & at 6pm 50 and over. Over 300 fans show up for this yearly event sponsored by Nike and Under Armour .

On Sunday, August 6, they travel to the west side to play Baltimore Rec Summer All-Star team with many of the top ballers from Baltimore high schools. Chester may be without its top 2 guards Jaimhy Evans (sore ankle) and Michael “ManMan” Smith (sore knee). Chichester’s high flying scoring machine DaQuan Granberry is expected to join his friends on the road trip.
