In some parts of Pennsylvania, juveniles are charged as juveniles and have to face a judge to decide if their crime will be dealt with in adult court. In Delco, judges aren’t qualified to make that decision based on the repeated bypassing of that process.
I guess it is Police Superintendent Chitwood who made the decision this time because the 16 and 17 year old girls are ‘real scumbags.’
“They are real scumbags,” township Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood said. “When you hold a gun to someone’s head, that’s being a violent predator. They are both facing charges as adults because of the sheer terror of these two girls for terrorizing people with a gun. These were serial holdups, a two-person crime wave. They just wanted money.”
I can rack up dozens of other juvenile ‘scumbags’ from articles in this same paper who have been either charged as the juveniles they are or have gone through the ‘proper’ process of a judge determining if they should be charged as an adult.
Based on feedback, I realize I’m the only one who sees this as a problem, but that’s okay. I’ll keep bringing it to your attention when it occurs.
