In the wee hours of Sunday morning, Chester firefighters rescued a man from the first floor of his burning home on 11th and Parker Streets.

“During an immediate search of the home, crews located and removed the victim from the first floor … just an outstanding job,” Chester Fire Department Deputy Commissioner William Rigby IV stated.

Most of us could never imagine walking into a burning building as part of our job. Of course, fire fighters are well trained to weigh the risk when performing their duty, but I’ll go out on a limb and say that most of them would prefer to fight a fire with a strong water hose and a little distance between themselves and the flames.

For the real heroes who have the courage and know how to perform life saving missions in the middle of a fire, the entire community says THANKS.
