(CHESTER, PA) – The City of Chester will swear-in eight new officers and promote two patrolmen to the position of detective during City Council meeting on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at 10:00am.

The eight officers are recent graduates of the Philadelphia Police Academy Class 378.  Mayor Thaddeus Kirkland, Councilmembers and several police officials attended the graduation ceremony, which was held on Friday, January 20, 2017 at Temple University’s Performing Arts Center.

As the City of Chester works to fully staff the police department, city leaders remain focused on hiring and promoting the most qualified and skilled persons to serve as officers in the community. “Our job is to protect our citizens and hire individuals who embody traits that are reflective of our duties and purpose as officers,” stated Commissioner Otis Blair. “The onus falls on leadership to find the most suitable persons and we have remained true to that standard with the recent promotions and the upcoming hires.”
