(Chester, PA) – On Friday, January 20, 2017, the Chester City Democratic Committee will host an Inaugural Ball to introduce newly sworn-in Pennsylvania State Representative Brian Kirkland (D-159).

State Representative Brian Kirkland was officially sworn into office on January 3, 2017. He will represent the 159th Legislative District, which includes: Chester, Chester Township, Parkside, Ridley, Upland, Trainer, Marcus Hook, Lower Chichester and parts of Upper Chichester.

Mayor Thaddeus Kirkland, the current mayor of the City of Chester, previously served as State Representative for the 159th Legislative District for 23 years. “Not only is it an honor to pass the torch to Brian because he is my nephew, but I’ve witnessed his ability to serve this district for 11 years as apart of my staff during my tenure as State Representative,” said Mayor Kirkland.  “It is always great to see young people, especially those who have the wherewithal step up. I am confident in his ability to serve the people and make an impact in these communities.”

The event will commence with a social cocktail hour at 6PM, followed by a formal dinner at 7PM.  Chester City Councilwoman Portia West will serve as emcee for the evening.

More than 200 constituents, local and state dignitaries, including Congressman Robert Brady, sponsors as well as friends and family members of State Representative Brian Kirkland are expected to attend.

Proceeds from the Ball will benefit the Chester City Democratic Committee.
