The historical marker in front of Calvary Baptist Church reminds us that young Martin Luther King did some of his earliest preaching at Calvary while a student at Crozer Seminary across town.
This year’s Dr. Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration at Calvary featured memories of King’s days at the church from a member who attended his Sunday school class and from the current pastor passing on stories passed down to him.
The great Rodney Bradley and Friends Choir sang several songs and keynote speaker Rabbi Jeremy Gerber shared the long history of Jewish worshipers in Chester and those who spent time with Dr. King.
This video shares photos, songs, and key messages from the event.
