For those of you who don’t know about AAU Basketball in Chester, it’s huge. AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) are better known as traveling youth sports teams. Teams play as many as 100 games during the summer in tournaments near and far and they’ve become the breeding ground for college scouts and coaches.

Chester’s Team Final are 15yr olds who started their journey in March and have dominated the regional AAU Mid Atlantic tournament circuit which earned them a spot at the prestigious 48 team National AAU tournament.

Team Final started things by whipping up on Massachusetts, Ohio, and Maryland before beating Reading Pa. by 2 points, Brooklyn, NY by 14 and Dover, DE by 7. That win advanced Team Final to the AAU championship game against Virginia Beach.

Both team showed why they made it to the final game with a double over time thriller resulting inTeam Final being out scored 77-71.

Team Final isn’t finished, yet. Their 49-5 record will be tested in North Philadelphia’s 22nd & Cecil B. Moore league at the MLC Recreation Center and in Hempstead New York’s Lincoln Park with a Chester vs. New York showcase August 13-14.

Chester is expected to take 3 teams to Hempstead Long Island (10-12, 13-14 & 15-16) and participate in All-Star games, karaoke & dance contest, adult alumni games, and a family day where our teams will be playing for the big trophy along with a lot of food and activities on the side.
