To mark the 100th anniversary of the Great Migration of 6 million African Americans from the South, and in particular those who landed in Chester, the Chester Housing Authority is presenting a short documentary telling the story of Ruth L Bennett, a Chester native who devoted her life to helping women and children from an 1880-era house, which from its inception served as a safe haven. Today, CHA’s largest development is named for Bennett.

At this event, city officials and CHA residents will gather to watch and celebrate. After the movie, at dusk, families will be invited to the near-by Bennett farm to watch short children’s films.
