Many of us remember the story of Shakiyl Smith who was paralyzed from the neck down from a bullet, yet, Shakiyl publicly made a plea to the shooter to come forward and he would be forgiven and not accused. The D.A. wasn’t in full agreement, but the gesture was sincere by Shakiyl.

Shak’s dad is in the paper today in a father’s day story providing details of an organization he formed to support the youth of Chester which announces a great event he’s staging on Saturday.

He expects more than 500 children and teens will attend Hearts & Hands’ next event, the first annual Save Our Kids Community Day, scheduled for noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Seventh and Penn streets’ basketball courts.
