(Chester – April 23, 2016) – Despite rain on Saturday morning, the Ruth L. Bennett Farm Community Day – held one day after Earth Day – accomplished all of its goals. Fruit trees were planted, two smoke-free theme murals were painted, and a number of healthcare organizations operated a health fair.

The Andrew L Hicks Foundation sent middle and high school students from West Chester to pair up with Chester kids to plant the trees. The Hicks Foundation has been a consistently strong supporter of these kinds of CHA activities.

The housing authority has expanded its community farm in recent years, encouraging residents, especially children, to learn to grow fresh fruits and vegetables.
