A former star athlete at Springfield High School in Delaware County, Camelot Chester Executive Director Jamar Brown is heading back to his hometown for a new kind of sporting event – a golf outing to raise scholarship funds for Delaware County students.

On March 24th, Camelot Education’s Chester Upland Excel Academy is hosting Swing for Scholarships, the school’s first-ever golf tournament to benefit students pursuing higher education.  The goal of the fundraiser is to provide at least two Camelot students with scholarships to pursue higher education.

At Chester Upland Excel Academy, a program within the Chester Upland School District, students who have dropped out or have fallen behind in their studies are able to make up for lost time by attending a longer school day and by engaging in a more intensive academic program.

Brown, who served as captain of the Springfield High football team and broke the Delaware County rushing record, went on to play football at Shippensburg University.
