We lost the battle of the front page as today’s Daily Times splashed the bad news of Chester over the good news this time. But, the Chester good news encompasses the entire page 6 introducing the partnership between the employees at Chester’s Talen Energy Stadium (formally PPL Park), home of the Philadelphia Union professional soccer team, and students from the Toby Farms Elementary school, through Big Brothers Big Sisters.

The goal to offer students from the Chester Upland School District access to mentors and programs will grant a mutually beneficial arrangement aiming to create new paths of growth and greater career opportunities for the youth of Chester.

“In order to really be a wonderful corporate neighbor, you got to care about the community where your beautiful stadium is, you got to care about the community where your players play,” said Commissioner Josh Shapiro, Chairman of the (Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency). “You got to care about the City of Chester.”

“Teach these young people, mentor these young people,” Kirkland said. “And they’ll never forget the gift that you bestowed upon them.”
