The Clippers (21-7) advance to the 2nd round of the State Tournament with a 55-46 decision over the Hempfield Black Knights. Chester will take on the Spring-Ford Rams (23-7) who defeated Spring Grove on Saturday afternoon. The game will be played on Wednesday, March 9th at a Site and Time to be determined.
Chester was led by junior Jamar Sudan (12) and senior Deshawn Hinson (10) who combined to score 22 points. The Clippers dominated the paint recording 10 blocked shots led by seniors Maurice Henry and Jamal Jones with 4 and 3 respectively. This marked Chester’s first double digit blocked shot game since 12/28/2013 in a 58-52 victory over Atlantic City. Senior Khaleeq Campbell controlled the helm for the Clippers with 5 assists to go along with his 9 points and a career high 5 rebounds. Fellow senior Stanley Davis once again contributed a complete game with 8 points, 4 assists, 4 rebounds, 1 blocked shot and 1 steal. Chester outscored Hempfield in each of the four quarters. With the game’s more deliberate approach limiting the Clippers to 52 possessions; it was their second fewest this season only surpassed by the 50 possession against Council Rock North. The Clippers won that contest 53-27.
