Widener always seems to nab someone from the Philadelphia Speakers Series to come on campus to speak before they hit the big stage in Philly. It’s your opportunity to see and hear from these great minds for free in an intimate setting. I took advantage when Dr. Ben Carson came to town.

CHESTER, Pa.— Widener University will welcome physicist and futurist Dr. Michio Kaku on Monday, Nov. 30 at 1 p.m. in Lathem Hall. The event is free and open to the public, but space is limited. To reserve seating, call 610-499-4112 or email cjcaporale@widener.edu.

A best-selling author and popularizer of science, Kaku continues Einstein’s pursuit to unite the four fundamental forces of nature into a single glorious theory of the universe. He wrote several scholarly pieces and has published more than 70 articles. Kaku authored several international best sellers, including Physics of the Future, Physics of the Impossible, Parallel Worlds, Einstein’s Cosmos, Beyond Einstein and Hyperspace. His most recent book, The Future of the Mind: The Scientific Quest to Understand, Enhance, and Empower the Mind, expounds the power and complexity of the human brain.

Kaku hosts his own international radio program called Science Fantastic, which is broadcast in 130 cities in the U.S. He also is a regular commentator on Tech-TV where he was featured in the Emmy-nominated film Me and Isaac Newton.

Kaku received a bachelor’s degree from Harvard University, and graduated with his doctorate degree from the University of California.

Kaku’s talk at Widener will be in advance of his sold-out evening appearance as part of the Philadelphia Speakers Series presented by the university at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia.

In its twelfth season, the Philadelphia Speakers Series offers the opportunity to spend an evening with Pulitzer and Nobel Peace Prize winners, world leaders, statesmen, distinguished journalists, authors and other celebrated personalities.
