Chester, Pa.—The Boys & Girls Club of Chester will culminate the year-long celebration of its 85th anniversary with the 2015 Legacy Reception onThursday, Nov. 19 at 6:30 p.m. in Lathem Hall, 13th and Potter Streets, on the campus of Widener University in Chester.

Tickets for the event are $85 and can be purchased at the Boys & Girls Club at 201 East Seventh Street in Chester, by calling 610-874-1237, or at the door the evening of the event. The Boys & Girls Club is also seeking sponsors for the event ranging from $1,000 for a Silver Sponsor to $10,000 for a Presenting Sponsor. Those interested in sponsoring can contact Drew Schmidt at or 610-547-6248.

The Legacy Reception is primarily a networking event and silent auction that will include assorted hors d’oeuvres and beverages for guests. A brief program will highlight the history and accomplishments of the Boys & Girls Club, the importance of youth development, and recognition of club members and previous staff.

Riley-Ford said the club offers several programs and initiatives designed to help Chester youth reach their full potential and make a successful transition to adulthood. Some of the programs include gardening and nutrition, tutoring and homework help, basketball and mentoring, and Face Forward II, an initiative the supports court-involved youth in addressing employment barriers.

“We continue to stand firmly planted in the city of Chester, serving the youth and community that need us most,” Riley-Ford said, “but we cannot provide needed youth services without sustained external funding. This event celebrates 85 years of success, but we need public support to someday celebrate another 85 years.”

The mission of the Boys & Girls Club of Chester is to nurture the development of young people and guide them along the path of future success by providing an environment that supports excellence in education, good character, citizenship and a healthy lifestyle. For more information,
